The old and new testaments teach the believer that God is the owner, possessor and giver of all things to man, and believers, in particular are receivers and therefore stewards of all they have.  Genesis 14:19, 22; Psalm 24:1;

Giving is an active expression of our faith that enables us to be purposeful stewards of what God has given to us.
